The Labyrinth of Egypt

April 22 2026

The following Images were generated using Googles latest Gemini 3 Ai Pro. I used up to four sources of data to generate these images. The historical descriptions by Herodotus in 450BC, Flinders Petries research from excavations in 1888 and data from The Mataha Expedition from 2008. I later combined the Merlin Burrows satellite scans from 2015 near the bottom of the page. All of these Ai generated images are experimental and are only an exploration of what Ai can render based on the data currently available.

It should be mentioned that Herodotus described the Labyrinth having a stone roof, so these open ceilings above each court doesn’t match accurately to what he saw in person. Ai is not 100% accurate.

Gemini Ai makes mistakes. It has difficulty matching the text it generates next to the corresponding data it renders and sometimes just writes unrecognizable words and sentences.

These next two Ai generated images are strictly using data from The Mataha Expeditions. You can download their findings on their Substack website. Here is a direct link to the data from 2008 - The Mataha Expedition PDF

The map shown in the upper right of the image below is a little confusing but the Mataha Expedition did scan on both sides of the canal.

The last and final Ai image below includes The Merlin Burrows satellite scan data from 2015. This data provided a clearer picture of the extent of the groundwater table and a reflective metal like anomaly deep below the surface at the centre of the Labyrinth.
